Autumn 2009, my first autumn ever. Freshman year of college. Was very excited to see things change color and to actually get to play in some leaves. We don’t have this in California, and New England is perfect this time of year. Hopefully I’ll have time to take more of these as autumn gets rolling.
Watts Towers, Consists of seventeen major sculptures constructed of structural steel and covered with mortar, adorned with a diverse mosaic of broken glass, sea shells, generic pottery and tile, a rare piece of 19th-century, hand painted Canton ware and many pieces of 20th-century American ceramics built without benefit of machine equipment, scaffolding, bolts, rivets, welds or drawing board designs - besides his own ingenuity, Sam used simple tools, pipe fitter pliers and a window-washer’s belt and buckle.
A bit out of the way and in what is a stereotypically “unsafe” neighborhood, but it really is not a bad place to go at all.
